President Dave presided over his last meeting in fine fashion; Past President Mike Muehl led our Patriotic Salute to our great Flag, and Past President Jack Anderson offered an invocation.

Rorie Johnston commented on the success of the Chamber of Commerce ‘Passing the Torch’ celebration at the Center for the Arts… 

 

Past President Rich and Donna Aeling received the “Jack Raymond, Civic Engagement’ award… Congratulations!!

 

And, our own Past President Kevin Svetich, relinquished the reins as the Chamber Board Chairman… Great job, Kevin!! Leading the Chamber again to another successful year…

Rotary Foundation News:

Past President and Foundation Chair, Kevin Svetich, presented the third Paul Harris Fellow award to Randy Furtado… Congratulations Randy, thanks for your generosity….

 

 

 

Kevin also announced that Escondido Sunrise is in 3rd Place among clubs in District 5340… by $1.09… Knowing that lead will not last, Kevin again asked for those ‘End of Rotary Year’  gifts to the Foundation….

 

President Dave announced the outstanding golf achievement of our newest member, Brad Allaband… A hole-in-one at Twin Oaks… President Dave thanked Brad’s close friends for this bit of news, and immediately slapped a $500 fine on Brad for his excellence at golf… and his good luck!!

 

 

 

Program:

 

Past President Mark Hoekstra introduced our speaker from the Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, Kathy Hodder. Kathy is a resident of Escondido and heads the North County Branch of the Auxiliary.

 

Kathy shared the great accomplishments of Rady Children’s, including it’s recognition as one of the Top Ten Children’s Pediatric Hospitals in the Nation as reported by US News and World Report… With a 550 bed campus in Kearney Mesa, the hospital is a leader in research and trauma care for children.

There are satellite facilities throughout San Diego County, including a major outpatient facility in Escondido with services available including: Urgent Care, Cardiology, Orthopedics and Sports MedicineJ, and Outpatient Surgery. Rady has an arrangement with Palomar Medical Center for Neonatal Care as well…

 

The Auxiliary is the primary fundraising arm of the hospital, and the North County Branch conducts an annual event in December, “Winter Wonderland.” The Auxiliary, throughout the county has a goal of raising $2 million for genetic research, and last year they contributed $2.7 million in overall support for the services at Rady Children’s…
