Kendra was sponsored by Past President, Rich Aeling… She is the Real Estate business, and is a former partner with our previous member, Bonnie Maloney…

Kendra pictured with President Richard and Membership Chair, Joe Holtz

Kendra, after being welcomed into Escondido Sunrise Rotary, presented her ‘Who Am I’ information. Kendra is a runner, and married  to husband, Ryan, and between them have two children; a 20-year old daughter and a 4-year old son…

And, Kendra has an affinity for bourbon, and enjoyed her “honey moonshine” on the bourbon trail in Kentucky and Tennessee…

Kendra speaking to her new ‘Fellow Rotarians’…

The fact that Kendra spread her offspring by so many years has nothing to do with her “Fear of Commitment”…

Kendra was encouraged by Bonnie to commit to Rotary Service so our club can become her ‘therapy’ as she engages in community service…

Welcome Kendra!!

New Escondido Sunrise Rotarian, Jeff Epp…

Jeff Epp is our ‘second-newest’ Sunrise Rotarian… A “Ghost from the Past” for sure, Jeff was previously a member of Escondido West Rotary, having served as President in 1990-91…

Jeff was sponsored by Past President, Jack Anderson… Coincidentally, Jack sponsored Jeff for his initial membership in the club in 1986…

Jeff is pictured with President Richard and Membership Chair, Joe Holtz…

Jeff presented his “Who Am I” talk, and fitting with his classification of “Saloon Keeper” or “Saloon Management”, Jeff brought a bottle of ‘Wyoming Whisky’ which was raffled off along with the opportunity drawing…

Jeff speaking to his fellow Sunrise Rotarians…

Jeff’s professional life in Escondido involved his work with the City Attorney’s Office, ultimately serving as the City Attorney for many years. In 2016, Jeff was asked by the City Council to serve as Interim City Manager, which later became a permanent position, directing all of Escondido’s employees to fulfill the City Council plans… Jeff commented that his goal as City Manager was simple in that all efforts would be focused on a “Safe, Clean and Efficient” City, operated to benefit all residents of the community…

Jeff retired from the City after 36 years, and is now transitioning to a new season of life and his role as a partner in the “Outlaw Saloon” in DuBois Wyoming…

Jeff shared some photos of the saloon and told some stories about Kendra’s affinity for bourbon, specifically referring to the pricing of Wild Turkey, 101…

And the “real” western side of Jeff’s saloon is the photo of the mounted rider that stopped in one day for a cold one…

Jeff also commented about the real love of his life, his three children… Sawyer, married and a teacher in Buenos Aires; Larson, married and an analyst for USAA in Scottsdale AZ; and Prescott, still at home and fulfilling maintenance duties for the City of Escondido, mostly in the Downtown area…

Welcome back to the fellowship and service of Sunrise Rotary, Jeff!!

Grape Day 5K “Ten + 1” Event…

Past President Jeff Johnson updated Sunrise Rotarians on the status of the event and the important work that needs to be done to carry off the event…

Past President Jeff Johnson speaking to his fellow Rotarians…

The status of fundraising and participant ‘gathering was shared… $75,201 has been raised to date; more is pledged, this is accounting for actual cash received…

To go along with the fundraising, 406 participants are registered as of this meeting… President Richard and Jeff reminded all that our goal is 1,000 participants, with most on the course the day of the event.

Jeff spoke about the importance of insuring that sponsoring donors that have contributed $250 are included on our donor thank you banner…

The banner is being prepared by All Star signs and the deadline for insuring the inclusion of donors is Friday, October 1.

Jeff spoke about on course assignments to direct the participants as they traverse the course. He thanked all that had volunteered for this responsibility… Look for detailed directions to come to you via email…

Jeff also requested that all Sunrise Rotary members be available to help with the day-of-event activities and to be at Grape Day Park by 7:00 AM on Saturday the 9th…

Jeff also mentioned that participant packets could be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce on October 7th between 4:30 and 7:00 PM… The opportunity will reduce the congestion of packet pick up on Saturday morning…

President Richard reminded Club Members that our goal is 1,000 participants, so continue to remind people to sign up to participate as well as to contribute funds…

There are 10 days from our last meeting ’til our Grape Day 5K Event… Saturday October 9 is the Date!!
