Program:
Don Phipps is the Governor of District 5340 & a member of the Del Mar Club. He was accompanied by the companion animal that he and his wife are training; she’s a Lab/Golden mix and extremely well-behaved; this is about dog # 7 that they have trained. Don was first introduced to Rotary by the Delano CA Cub who awarded him a scholarship. He attended Cal Poly SLO, majoring in biochemistry. He was in Army ROTC and began a 20+ year army career in the medical service corps as a biochemist. Upon retiring from the Army, he worked for the Red Cross and other blood related organizations. He affiliated with Rotary in Pennsylvania and later In Sacramento before moving to San Diego & working with UCSD. His Rotary service grew out of him being his club’s bulletin editor; where he learned all about Rotary activities & events, locally & regionally. He encouraged all of us to become & remain active in Club Service roles. He encouraged club members to join the District Conference “cruise” from LA to Ensenada.
