Program:

Mother’s Day Celebration with a delicious breakfast and Past President Barry Baker shared how Mom’s Day officially began. A woman named Mrs. Jarvis during the Civil war put baskets together for the needy moms. Her daughter Anna Jarvis honored her mom and asked the state and government to set aside a day to honor her mom and others. So, the 2nd Sunday in May was officially launched in 1914 as Mother’s Day. He also shared about the tradition in his home growing up that every Mother’s Day the family would load up in the car and drive tro Bakersfield for brunch. Barry’s sweet mom is still alive today, she’s 102 and he’s so very grateful. Thank you Barry for sharing that bit of history!!

See the pictures below to see all of the festivities with the bell that was baked into the cake which really touched President Tina, also the biggest surprise of all was that she won the opportunity drawing and her daughter Liz won the lunch money. What a great mother and daughter win!!! Congratulations to you both!!

Support for our Escondido Community …
Our great community and the success of its businesses is all of our responsibilities… Support the businesses that are doing all they can to survive during this challenging time… Take out some chow… Be ready to support them when the economy begins working again…
The ‘Giving Arch’ on Grand Avenue and Centre City Parkway reminds us that Escondido is a caring, giving community…

To all; be safe and be well…. God Bless those men and women that carry the load at our medical facilities, and God Bless our first responders… May our governmental leaders be wise, thoughtful and smart as this pandemic is overtaken by our hard work and collective support…
