Escondido Sunrise Rotary; Meeting to Serve our Community in Person and via Zoom; and “Fellowship Thursday With Jim Morrison From The District In Attendance”
 
As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we seek new opportunities to serve…
 
We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling faces…
 
 
 
 
 
As a Club, we honored our nation with a salute to our Flag led by Mike O’Malley……
And, an invocation was offered by Jack Anderson...…

5K Update:
 
As you can see the money is beginning to pour in for this annual event. Everyone is working hard raising funds and trying to reach their goals…….
 
 
We are improving each week as you can see. George Beitner said the 5K planning meeting went well

Dave Herbert was in attendance and thanked everyone for being so supportive during this very difficult time
 
 
Al Owens from the Noon Club thanked everyone for supporting the Escondido Police Athletic Association League. He also talked about a charity basketball game to benefit a young man battling cancer. It will be on 8/13 and EVCC at 11:30 am
 
 
Doug Schultz & Dane White showing their Taekwando Mixed Martial Arts stance as they announced their competition to raise funds for the 5K
 
 
 
Gloria announced that the “jar” is getting full so someone just has to pull the joker card. She also let everyone know that Mike O’Malley donated some of his rotary pins he has collected over the years.

Program:
 
Presentation and report from district:
Jim Morrison from the district presented Paul Harris Society pins to Gerry Fay and Kim Henson. We belong to a very generous club, there are 46 Paul Harris donors and 19 Paul Harris Society donors. We have 9 matching grants totaling $119k with a grand total giving of $984k. Way to go ESR!!!He continued to report about the many projects that have been funded with one of them being the help that was raised for Ukraine.
 
 
 
The meeting this week also focused on reports from the various committees:
 
 
Community Service – Rich Aeling
Rich updated us on the many projects that we funded this year and are currently a part of. There are so many to name and it would take a whole page to list but a couple of projects are:
Mexicali project
Heritage Park in Escondido
Bikes for kids at Christmas
Boys & Girls Club
Fischer House
Bell ringing at Christmas
Thanksgiving meals
The list in extensive and it proves once again how very generous our ESR is!!
 
 
“Fun” Events committee:
Kim Henson talked about one of the upcoming social events that is scheduled for October 21st to play Bunko at the home of Rich Aeling (thank you Rich) more info to come…..
A couple of other ideas are wine tasting and going to a Padre game, stay tuned for more……
 
Membership Committee – Joe Holtz and Judy Fitzgerald
Joe talked about having a goal of 5 new members this year and he encouraged the new members to assist in inviting potential members to come to a meeting. Tina added that she would like to see 10 new members. There will be membership packets with Gloria at every meeting.
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Opportunity Drawing….
 
 
 
Big Opportunity this week was $386… Past President, Tony Criss attempted to pick the lucky card…..sorry Tony, not this time, hopefully next week!!
The consolation prize was $26.… John Schwab had the lucky ticket and gets to enjoy a lunch on Rotary…
