Rorie Johnston, Chamber of Commerce President and Past President Rich Aeling shared a story of a severe traffic accident that occurred on Broadway near the Chamber office. Assistance was rendered, and the story of the mother that was injured in the accident; after hospitalization, she will return to the family apartment, which has limited access for wheelchairs. In working with the woman’s adult son, we may be able to help with her accessibility needs…
Past President Mike Muehl shared the schedule for the youth Christmas shopping outing to be held on Thursday afternoon, December 20. Volunteers were added to the team at the meeting; thanks to all for volunteering for this great program…

Program: “Who Am I” presentations by Dave Leuvanos and John Schwab…
Dave Leuvanos was born in Compton, CA and is one of 10 kids in a blended family. His family moved around a bit, and he lived for a while in Venice Beach and learned much from his ‘scavenging’ grandfather… He learned you can make good things out of another person’s discard… He uses the same concept in his work with youth at the Boys and Girls Club…

Dave spoke about his studying at San Diego State and working with Harmonium… a time he continued to develop his passion for working with young people… He shared an intertwining story of all the young ladies he worked with in his college days in youth service… Somehow, he ended up with his beautiful wife, via a double-date in Tijuana… His wife is a middle school teacher at Mission Middle School in Escondido. Dave is responsible for all the programming at the Mitchell Branch of the Boys and Girls Club in Escondido where they serve over 350 youth each day…

John Schwab is the newest member of Escondido Sunrise. Born in San Diego, John attended St. Augustine High School and graduated from the University of San Francisco and was commissioned on graduation as a 2nd LT in the Army… He served in the Republic of Viet Nam from 1969-1971… Thanks for serving John!

John was married in 1975 to his wife Marie, and they have three children. John worked for several companies in the San Diego area, primarily in aerospace logistics…along the way, he also worked for PSA, and ultimately began his own businesses; one company specialized in car registration processing; he also owned an all-brand toner cartridge business… John spends his time now volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce…
