Dave Herbert and his daughter Katie ‘near’ Antartica… Dave had a number of stories about their trip… Including their visit to Patagonia, and three attempts to fly into Antarctica, all of them foiled by foul weather… So, some great disappointment as they never reached the Antarctic continent.

Escondido Sunrise has a New President Elect!!

 

Due to unforeseen circumstances, former President-Elect Mark Crosby is no longer a member of Escondido Sunrise.

 

Through the efforts of Past President Rich Aeling, ‘Future President’ (four years out), Dave Herbert has graciously consented to serve as President-Elect this year and to ‘ascend’ to the Presidency in July.…

 

Thanks President-Elect Dave for stepping up… In his first ‘address’ to the Club, President-Elect Dave commented on the Rotary International Theme for next year; “Be the Inspiration,” and added that his administration will demonstrate that “There will be revenge.”

Can’t wait to support you as you lead our great club!!

Past President Mike O’Malley reminded all to become ‘Youth Certified’ at youthcertify.org

 

Brian Murphy extended his thanks to Sunrise Rotary for supporting the Wood Show at the Escondido Arts Partnership. Brian said there were 33 exhibitors with over $130,000 of wood craft products on display. Over 500 patrons attended the opening and Past President Mike Dunlap’s special wine, with unique event-inspired labels was much appreciated by the Arts Partnership.

 

Past President George Beitner announced that RYLA facilitators are needed and application can be made on the District 5340 website.

 

Past President Rich Aeling announced that he is going to be a grandpa… Congrats Rich!!

 

Program:

 

Our program didn’t materialize, so Club Secretary and future President, Linda Bailey, distributed a questionnaire for Club members to comment on the ‘Climate’ of the Club. Some of us remember those ‘pop quizzes’ from our school days… Thanks Linda
