A joint service project with Rotary Clubs from Escondido and Mexicali and Lions from Northern Cal & Washington…

President Dave gave Past President Rich Aeling $40 to cover the bribe he paid for running a red light on the way to the project while caravanning with other Rotarians.  The rest of the group was very gratuitous in waiting for Rich to be released from custody before they proceeded to the project site…

The team arrived on Thursday and enjoyed the traditional Chinese Dinner.  Work started on Friday and continued until Sunday morning.  The medical clinic and the construction project were located at the same site for the first time.

The medical teams performed dental, eye, health and podiatry procedures and exams.  The construction project consisted of scrapping, power washing and painting the entire school, Repairing/replacing the basketball hoops and concrete footing; also scraping, sanding and re-painting picnic benches, a total of 4 benches were completed!  That team moved on to the children’s playground equipment; more scraping, sanding and paining.  The team also replaced swings and other playground equipment needing repair.  Once the work was done, we all enjoyed watching the children having a great time on the repaired equipment.

Medical support exams were important for many of the neighborhood residents…

Also, with the help of ‘Handy’ Andy Aeling and Al ‘has everything’ McDonald the team cut and finished a new door between classrooms.

Friday night’s dinner was at an Italian restaurant along with the celebration of Donna Aeling’s Birthday!  Saturday night the team all headed to Pappy’s house by bus for a Pig Roast and great fun for all.

Special thanks to Andy Aeling, Al McDonald, Dunn Edwards Paint, Shawn and the Rotary wives that even skipped having massages on Sunday morning to help complete the job!!  Thanks to all for a great international project.

Lots of construction and repair efforts…
