Past President Jim Ponder discussing event day details at our last meeting…

President Dave shared the chart showing our overall fundraising progress with a thermometer image to show progress…

This gauge will show both major donors and individual results as well…

High Fives:

President Dave shared thank you notes from Palomar Family YMCA for our ongoing support of youth programs… He also shared a note from the Shasta Community Foundation for our support of fire victims of the Carr Fire in Redding; we donated $1,585 to the fund in Shasta County.

Finally, he shared a thank-you from the Outdoor Reach Program to which Escondido Sunrise donated $500 recently…

Past President Alan Miller mentioned the upcoming District 5340 LEAD Seminar for Middle School students. He will be attending with 4 students from Escondido Middle School the weekend of October 13-14.

Program:

Past President Dave, always nimble, created a program “on the fly” as our scheduled program was not available…

The quiz game of “Two Truths and a Lie” was put into play by the Prez… Naturally consistent with the Rotary Four-Way Test, this activity fits right in with our Club’s character and enthusiasm…

The first contestant was Past President Alan Miller. Quizzed by the President, he proceeded to spin a few tales. The Club members got to vote on which tale was a lie and which were truth…

Alan, ‘lying’ to his fellow Rotarians, as prompted by our President, “Honest Dave”.

As it turns out, Alan has only lived in 48 homes in his lifetime, not the 52 that were alleged… But, who’s counting anyway???

The next Liar to be quizzed was Past President Mike Muehl… Mike, being a hunter and fisherman, is exceptionally good at exaggerating the truth… Mike was quizzed on tales about his Father and Grandfather in the Dakota wilderness… and added a real ‘Pinocchio’ about being in a Mexican jail for two nights.

Past President Mike Muehl spinning falsehoods for his fellow Sunrise Rotarians…

Ultimately we learned that Mike only spent one night in a Mexican Jail… Probably arrested for “Stretching the Truth”…
