Escondido Sunrise Rotary; Meeting to Serve our Community in Person and via Zoom; and “Celebrating Ireland Forever on St. Patrick’s Day”… March 17, 2022

As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we seek new opportunities to serve…

We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling, “Irish” faces…

Program

Past Presidents, Brian and Nancy Murphy and Barry and Lee Baker set the stage for a fun St. Patrick’s Day celebration… The meeting room was festively decorated and lots of green was worn by all…

Our meeting started with a great breakfast arranged with a caterer by Past President, Rich Aeling…

Naturally, the St. Paddy’s Day meal needed to be sustained by a wee bit o’ Jameson’s Irish Coffee… This group began the imbibing early…

All of the Rotarians and Guests were divided into three groups from some fun St. Paddy’s Day contests… Led by Past President, Barry Baker...

Naturally, each table had a potato and a ‘shamrock beach ball’… The potato needed to be named and  a contest timed the passing around the table of both the ball and the potato…

O course no St. Paddy’s Day event would be complete without some Irish Limericks being shared…

Past President George shared his story…

Past President Constance Larsen added a perspective as a ‘Bonnie Lass’…

And Past President, Kevin Svetich was also full of rhyme (and a little Jamesons)…

And, to finish the ‘greening’ of the stories and limericks, Past President Alan Miller shared his Irish tale…

Having fun with an Irish St. Paddy’s Day theme would not be complete without the opportunity to tour the Emerald Isle and to share stories about the travel… Each table had to create travel memorabilia and costumes from some provided items… And, to don the attire quickly…

After showing off our travel memorabilia, each table had to tell a story of their group travel to Ireland… With each member using just ten words to keep the story going…

Lots of fun as we all proved we could count to ten and talk at the same time…

And Future President, Dave Luevanos ended his story searching Dublin for a beloved ‘burrito’…

The St. Paddy’s Day planners… Well Done!!!

The Opportunity Drawing…

The fun continues…

No drawing today because of the St. Patrick’s Day festivities…
