Program:
John Schwab introduced our speaker for today, Dave Jones from the After 5 Club spoke on the very heartbreaking subject of suicide.
Guest Speaker Dave Jones
San Diego Coalition for Mental Health
And Suicide Prevention

Dave Jones was invited to speak by John Schwab so that an education in asking the right questions about mental health could be discussed. The hope was to dissolve the stigma surrounding this difficult and confusing topic.
Dave shared a very personal story of the history of depression and mental health issues in his family. His grandfather suffered from severe depression and ended his life at a young age. Tragically, Dave’s father suffered from debilitating depression. An event that changed Dave’s life and that of his siblings was during a time when his mother had been diagnosed with cancer and his father was in the valley of a bi-polar episode and severely depressed with suicidal ideations. His father took the life of his mother and then ended his own.
Dave was in college when this occurred. Rather than being upset with his father, Dave had compassion and set out to use this tragic situation for good. He set out to help others who struggle with mental
health issues and also made it a mission to educate the public on how to identify in their loved ones if help is needed/
Dave regularly speaks to audiences of different age groups and background. He wants to remove the shame that many feel when in the struggle. He is on the San Diego Coalition for Mental Health and
Suicide Prevention Council. He can be reached at dave@djsales.com and (760)845-9316.
