As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we seek new opportunities to serve…

We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling faces…

Su Refugio Ministries Ambassador Rick Reiman was the ESRC Guest Speaker. Rick and his wife Lorraine have resided in Escondido since 2003. Both he and his wife of 25 years are actively involved in ministry at their home church of Shadow Mountain. This is where he was called to
the ministry of rescuing the most vulnerable, women and children in third world countries through Su Refugio.

Su Refugio is a global non-profit organization that rescues orphaned and trafficked children living in poverty, feed the hungry in Latin America, and equip women and children with vocational skills, certification, and biblical instruction. Rick serves as a volunteer Ambassador. His faith in God and life’s calling comes from the martyred Christian Jim Elliot who once said,
“He is no fool who gives what he can’t keep, to gain what he cannot lose.” To this day rick lives by his motto, “Do all you can for as long as you can for the Glory of God.”

Su Refugio gives women and children a healthy future by providing a sage and loving home, nutrition and other essential services needed to rescue him or her. More than just providing the basic needs they provide a holistic program designed to reach hearts and souls. The program has identified that inadequate education, sexual violence, and teenage pregnancy are directly linked to cycles of poverty in Latin American societies. Currently, Su Refugio provides a safe haven in the countries of Paraguay, Peru and Argentina.

Rick and Lorraine coordinate food packing events where local businesses and sponsor’s pack essential and nutrient packed foods to distribute in these countries at the shelters Su Refugio
provides and in poverty-stricken communities. They travel to these countries once a year and get to see firsthand the impact it has made in the lives of those they’ve come to know at the shelters throughout the years.

Rick asked that the ESRC consider organizing and/or funding a food packing event, or consider sponsoring a child or family. He promises that what is given to bless those in need often is a greater blessing to the giver. He welcomed us to visit www.surefugio.org to learn more about the ministry and to give to this important mission.
