Past President Rich Aeling was recently fishing in Mammoth and brought back a bottle of Mammoth Nut Brown Ale for President Dave… Amazing how all the fisherman will bring back ale, but never a fish meal for the Prez…

Ann Van Leer commented that the Escondido Creek Conservancy was about to close escrow on a 700 acre parcel within the Conservancy boundaries, and that some older buildings on the property were going to be re-purposed for a variety of conservation uses… Ann is seeking a contractor to work with on the project; suggestions are welcome… Congratulations on the acquisition Ann!!
Past President Jack Anderson announced that this weekend; October 12-14 was to be a reunion gathering of his Navy classmates, celebrating the 50th anniversary of their commissioning…

Kevin Ehlinger Wilde was introduced as our speaker by Past President Mark Hoekstra. Kevin’s topic, “How Disruptive Technology will Disrupt our Lives”…Kevin opened his presentation with a photo of ice farmers in the 1880’s cutting and shipping ice… little did they know that soon the invention of the refrigerator and freezer would completely disrupt their businesses… Kevin spoke about Artificial Intelligence and Robots and how they are currently impacting our lives and our businesses…

Kevin described the future impacts of technology in the areas of medicine, law, transportation, travel and intercultural relations, big data anaytics, sports and politics…
adding information about politics… read, ‘Russian Collusion’ and you begin to understand how technology is currently impacting our lives in many ways. He shared some things about 3D printers and how they are producing buildings and building parts so that multi-level buildings can be constructed in weeks with very few people.
Finally, Kevin offered some predictions that AI will make machines better so that better machines can be made… And that the usefulness of humans may likely be reduced, and finally that the economic impact of AI will be $60 to $250 Billion times greater than the impact seen today…
