Somehow, someway, President Dave acquired a photo of Past President Kevin Svetich from a ‘frolicking’ good time in the way distant past… Perhaps it was a ‘Dancing with our Starts’ program…

High Fives and Announcements:

Past President and Foundation Chair, Kevin Svetich announced that an anonymous donor was prepared to match all new contributions to the Foundation… helping Escondido Sunrise advance within the District for Foundation support… Kevin shared that nearly $4,000 has been raised since the matching gift was offered…

The President also announced the Team Captains for the Grape Day 5K Fundraising efforts; Captains are: Past Presidents Mark Hoekstra, John Boyce and Jack Anderson; also leading teams are Tina Pope and John Schwab… Thanks for being part of this important Escondido Sunrise program…

Program:

As promised by President Dave… For his last ‘real’ meeting prior to the end of his Presidential Year, a surprise guest speaker appeared… With much fanfare, the speaker was… The enigmatic Silas Harrington!

Silas has been a member of Escondido Sunrise for many years, however he has been notably absent from meetings in recent years… We were reminded that his dues and assessments are current…

Silas is a trust, estate and tax attorney, and his program was ostensibly about the tax cut legislation passed recently by congress…

But, no boring tax discussion for our club!!

Silas presented a ‘Who Am I?’ and ‘What Have I Been Doing?’ since I was last spotted at a Sunrise Rotary meeting….

Silas Harrington presenting to Sunrise Rotarians…

Silas proceeded to place the blame for his ‘irregular’ attendance on his beautiful wife and three beautiful daughters…

Pictured here are Silas’ family on an outing in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Silas’ home stomping grounds…

Continuing to explain his long, unexplained absence from the fellowship opportunities with Sunrise Rotarians, Silas spoke about his family’s busy schedule, his broken water line causing significant damage to his home… But, really gave himself up with his photo of his cache of marijuana plants growing in his Valley Center garden… Silas, you devil…

Silas’ reputation with Sunrise Rotarians remains unknown to many members… Pictured here is an example of the number of members that don’t know Silas, and this meeting was their first introduction to him…

Our meeting closed with President Dave’s final bit of humor; relating to his demotion, he shared a video of actor Chuck Connors being ‘demoted’ by the Union Army… with his stripes and buttons being unceremoniously removed from his uniform…

President Dave, your fellow Rotarians would never treat you in such a demeaning way…

Lunch Money:    $40.00… And, the winner is… John Schwab!
