Rorie Johnston, a Board Member for the Arts Center, announced that the Center was in the running for a grant, and we all can vote on line…

 

Past President Jack Anderson traveled recently to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and brought some trinkets to the President

 

Rorie Johnston also announced that the Community in Unity event will be held on December 7 at the Escondido City Hall Dome Area

Grape Day 5K: Past President Jeff Johnson reported that there were 400 registrations the final week before the event; A total of 1004 participants registered for the event and about 850 participated on the day of the event…

Rorie Johnston recently presented a program on the Escondido Chamber of Commerce “Rising Star” program; designed to honor local scholars from all of our high schools. We were without a formal program at that meeting and Rorie stepped up to present an informational piece on this community effort to support student achievement.

Cabins by the Lake:

 

Past President Mike Dunlap introduced Bradley Roberts of the San Diego County Parks Department. Mr. Roberts received a check from The Cabins by the Lake Foundation for two additional handicapped-accessible cabins at Dos Picos County Park in Ramona.

Mr. Roberts discussed the design considerations involved in completing these important additions to our County’s recreational support offerings for individuals with physical limitations.

 

Mike shared that these cabins are numbers 12 and 13; encompassing over $1 million raised through contributions by non-rotarians for this great purpose. Cabins by the Lake has also funded two Global Grants providing Braille devices and exercise equipment for a special needs facility in Brazil.
