Father Bill Dopp introduced Livingstone ‘Stone’ Mpalanyi who brought our program from the Chain Foundation Orphanage in Mukona Uganda… Several years ago, Father Bill and Past President Dave Herbert visited the orphanage and the vocational school…

Stone spoke about the goals of the foundation through their various educational programs… Many of the children have lost their parents in violent occurrences, so the goals are not only to teach and educate, but also to help build emotional strength after having suffered catastrophic harm to family members…

Stone Mpalanyi speaking to Sunrise Rotarians…

Many younger students are in the Primary School, where they receive basic education along with appropriate nutrition and health care.

The Vocational School accommodates the older students as they learn diverse skills and trades like culinary skills, welding, shoemaking, and sewing and fabric care…

Many students have become teachers and return to help train and support the current students… And many, with the  curriculum as noted above are ready to become contributing members to the local Ugandan economy…

The value placed on education through the Foundation is also important in changing the perspective on the value of education in the regional area…
