Program: Dennis Astl, Manager of Construction and Facility Planning for Palomar College joined us today to share information on the progress the college is making with the Proposition M Bond Funds approved by the voters in 2006. The Bond provided $694 million for improvements throughout the Palomar District.

Dennis Astl addressing Sunrise Rotary Club members…

Dennis shared that the bond funds have been spent towards completion of the College’s 2022 Facilities Master Plan. 2/3 of all the planned projects have been completed including the following: purchase and completion of a facility in Rancho Bernardo to serve the southern part of the College District; Purchase and first phase construction of a new facility in Fallbrook; The addition of facilities on the main San Marcos campus, including a parking structure, new Library, new athletic facilities, and a new maintenance and operations building. All of the projects have incorporated the latest energy saving technologies and the new maintenance and operations facilities received a Green Project Award. Palomar is on track to produce more electricity from their facilities than they use.
