President Brian led the meeting…

We honored our flag and our nation with the pledge led by Past President, George Beitner…

Lo and Behold… President Brian still has no bell… Have I heard that his bell is on his Christmas wish list??

Oh Brian, what are we to do with you??? It’s been said, that he may be on the ‘naughty list’… so, he may still be enjoying the ‘No-Bell’ prize in 2020…

President Brian is missing both his treasured bell and the stand upon which it rests…

Program:

Past President Dave Herbert introduced our program, “Life on Mt. Whoville” shared by Ernie Cowan… Outdoor writer and photographer. Ernie is also involved as a fire lookout on Palomar Mountain, and a former Mayor of Escondido…

Ernie began by telling us about his and Kaity’s home on a mountain in East Escondido. As they built their home and prepared the garden, they planted plants that would attract the local wildlife…

Ernie and Kaity have lived on the mountain 15 years and he shared with us the wildlife he has captured in his photography over the years…

The first pic is that of the property when they began to prepare it with plant and special areas to attract wildlife…

He showed pics of the abundant butterflies that enjoy the plants…

And some critters that they ‘co-exist’ with on the mountain, like this rattlesnake…

And the beautiful birds that enjoy the nectar of the flowers and the water and fountains…

And of course the hawks as they circle the property seeking to control the pesky rodent population… good bye gophers…

And his favorite roadrunner… Also controlling pesky critters …

All in all, a beautiful array of the abundant wildlife close to our beautiful community…

President Brian and Ernie Cowan…
