The Demotion Party:

Held at the VFW Hall, Past President Dave Casey started the evening with a ‘picture-perfect’ President Dave Herbert…

Also enjoying the evening’s festivities is the Sunrise Rotary “First Family…President Dave, First Lady Kathy, and Daughter, Caity, a Rotarian in Portland, Oregon…

Demotion Fun:

Past President Mike O’Malley emceed the evening’s program with the comment that “President Dave gave us very little to work with”… Thus the evening theme was “Things you didn’t know about President Dave”…

President Dave was able to enjoy the festivities in one of his finer neckties while seated on the ‘demotion throne’….

A number of photos of President Dave involved with his numerous pursuits outside of Rotary, including his time at the San Pasqual Battlefield State Monument, and his work with the national forest at the Boucher Hill Fire Lookout on Palomar Mountain…

Also noted was his previous part-time employment gig at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club…

Seems he was involved with overseeing the money-counting… Here Dave is pictured with a cool One Million Dollars….

My goodness; It became a family affair with the piles of dough… Kathy and Caity also helped ‘handle’ the money…

President Dave being the very practical man that he is, also found the need to buy-in to his future resting place… At the Valley Center Cemetery…

Seems he needed to relocate so that his current domicile would be in Valley Center… In order to have a permanent domicile at the Cemetery…

The evening’s fun time ended, President Dave had the opportunity to share about his experiences as Sunrise Rotary’s 40th President…

Dave thanked those members that served on the Board, on Committees and led various events…

Pictured are but a few of those members as the recognition took place… Dave offered a very special and heartfelt thanks to all Sunrise Rotary members that helped to make the 2018-19 Rotary year a great success…

A special part of every President’s Leadership Year is the use of and protection of the coveted Rotary Meeting Bell… Naturally, every president deals with a mysterious disappearance of his bell… All in fun….

Well, President Dave had a bell up his sleeve… Yes, he has his own special bell. The bell he used at times was a bell used by Kathy’s stepfather, Jim Crosby when he served as President of the West Los Angeles Rotary Club in 1971-72…

Dave brought that bell to his demotion event and shared the engraving that he placed on it recognizing his 2018-19 Rotary Presidential Year. In a truly heartfelt time of sharing, Dave presented the Bell to his daughter Caity, as he sees a Rotary Presidency in her future in Portland… President Dave with Caity and ‘Grampa Jim’s’ bell…

Joining Sunrise Rotarians for the demotion event were the current President and Past President of the Calafia Club in Mexicali… Sunrise Rotary has partnered with the Calafia Rotary Club for 5 years to undertake projects and services in Mexicali.  BiBi and Popi joined us and shared thoughts with President Dave and the members in attendance…

The final act of the evening for President Dave was to present the President’s Pin to incoming President Brian Murphy.  Pictured with Past President Dave are President Brian and his wife Nancy…

Brian concluded the meeting’s activities with the presentation of his incoming Board and Committee members… Thanks to all who will be serving in the 2019-20 year… It will be a rousing success…
