Program:

Today’s program was introduced by Marcia and Richard Agnew. The speaker was Sunday Abiria with Muni University in Uganda…

Sunday Abiria presenting to Sunrise Rotarians…

The school was established by Christine Dranzoa.  Her desire to educate the people of Uganda stems from her own success as a young student… She is also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Sunday explained that at this time the population of Uganda is not being served  with enough doctors.  Currently, there are about one hundred locally trained doctors to handle 1.4 million people.  The annual income level per capita is about $650.

Muni University is working to establish a school of medicine on campus.  Their group is working on the funding for buildings and planning to bring professors, along with curriculum needed to start the School of Medicine.

They hope to have the new doctors remain in the country to provide the needed services to their population.
